Punta del Este – Buenos Aires – Cafayate Salta – Mendoza – Valle de Uco
Over the years our South America Discovery tour has become one of the most talked about and popular excursions we offer.
If you enjoy a mix of new and old-world charm … culture and history … natural wonders … jaw-dropping scenery … fantastic cuisine and wines … then this is the tour for you.
And, on top of all that we’ll show you places where you can live life to its fullest … where you could earn healthy profits for years to come by investing in real producing assets … where you can internationalize and diversify your portfolio … and where you can find that “just right” retirement spot.
I’m Barbara Perriello and for nearly 25 years, I’ve been leading adventurous travelers and discerning investors on expeditions around the globe … searching for opportunities and helping folks just like you follow their dreams.
Today I’m offering you the chance to discover two of South America’s most exciting countries … Uruguay, the second smallest on the continent … and Argentina, the second largest.
Read on to get a peek at where we’ll be going and what we’ll be doing.
Punta del Este, Uruguay
Progressive and culturally sophisticated, tiny Uruguay is bound to surprise you. Known for its history of stability and safety, it’s currently rated #2 in South America by the 2017 Global Peace Index.
We’ll kick off our journey in Punta del Este, famous for its fabulous beaches and glitzy nightlife. Here you’ll find all the attractions of a world-class beach resort combined with a laid-back yet chic, cosmopolitan vibe.
During half-day sessions with our distinguished experts, Juan Federico Fischer and Sancho Pardo Santayana, you’ll learn all about living and investing in Uruguay. And when we tour residential real estate and farmlands, you’ll see firsthand why Brazilians, Europeans and Americans have made this a targeted area for investors.
Join us next Spring and you’ll get all the answers, plus so much more!
And now, let me introduce two of our excellent contacts who are among the many specialists we’ve been networking with for nearly two decades of traveling here.
Juan Federico Fischer Managing Partner, Fischer & Schickendantz
Juan Federico Fischer is the managing partner of Fischer & Schickendantz), one of Uruguay’s leading law firms. Both a lawyer and an M.B.A., he manages the firm’s foreign investment consulting unit, advising multinationals andindividual investors in foreign direct investments in real estate developments, acquisition of local companies, agricultural enterprises and privatizations.
Sancho Pardo Santayana Managing Partner, 360Terra International Realty
Sancho Pardo Santayana is managing partner at 360 Terra International Realty, a leading brokerage firm located in Uruguay that specializes in serving clients from the U.S. and Canada.
You can opt to join the Uruguay Only portion of this tour – three nights in Punta del Este – or if you would like to extend your stay in the southern hemisphere, we can help you plan a visit to Bariloche, the Glaciers, or any other destination.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Next, it’s on to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, truly one of the most exciting cities in the world – with a sophisticated, refined Latin American influence but on a cosmopolitan par with New York or Paris.
South America’s gateway city boasts large boulevards, beautiful parks and plazas lined with mature trees, and an architectural wonderland of landmark buildings thanks to a mix of Old World influences.
We’ll savor perfectly cooked steaks washed down with glasses of Malbec, take in a tango show, explore historic neighborhoods, boutiques and galleries … and enjoy a colorful street fair.
This is where you’ll meet our associate and “boots on the ground” expert Steve Rosberg, founder and managing partner of Ushay Investments. Together we’ll explore tangible asset investments in Argentina and throughout the trip you’ll have plenty of chances to chat with him. Steve will answer all of your questions about living and investing here, and much more.
We’ll also introduce you to another of our invaluable key contacts – South America’s best known wine expert – Andres Rosberg, who earlier this year was elected president of the International Association of Sommeliers.
Since 2003, Steve Rosberg has been Managing Partner of Ushay – an investment management company that operates in Argentina and Uruguay with a focus on forestry, vineyards, construction and real estate.
Steve is an Economist and a graduate of UCA in Buenos Aires plus post-graduate studies in Forestry Related Business Management. He’s also a popular speaker at seminars on financial risk management, international business and direct investment.
Andres Rosberg is one of Argentina’s first professional sommeliers and president and co-founder of the Pan American Sommelier Alliance, a role which earlier this year placed him at the helm of the organization for the World’s Best Sommelier competition held in Mendoza.
Andrés is the Executive Sommelier of the praised UCO Restaurant in the Buenos Aires Hotel Fierro and the managing director of the Los Arbolitos Vineyard Trust, a 1,000 acre estate in the heart of the Uco Valley – a top-end vineyard and real estate project.
During our stay in Cafayate, we’ll get to see the second most important wine growing area in Argentina, plus thanks to this charming town’s growing tourism industry, you’ll have a chance to choose from a number of excellent restaurants, mostly supplied by family farms in the valley or nearby.
We’ll rub elbows with Doug Casey and his team at an exclusive community that he and a group of friends created – La Estancia de Cafayate.
Here you’ll have the opportunity to experience Doug’s version of “the good life” … and you’ll learn everything there is to know about living in this quaint, little-known hideaway.
We’ll introduce you to a number of expats who have discovered this hidden gem in the high desert and are happy to share their experiences.
With a stunning backdrop of the Andes, you can play golf, go horseback riding or indulge yourself in the hotel’s luxurious amenities … everything is possible at this masterpiece wine and residential sporting estate.
When we depart for Salta City, we’ll take a magnificent scenic route first through the spectacular red rock foothills of the Andes to the high desert, and then down through lush green forests. One of our stops along the way is at El Anfiteatro (The Amphitheatre), where often local musicians and even tourists drop in to play and sing. Once we arrive in the city, you won’t want to miss our favorite spot for delicious empañadas!
Like much of Northwestern Argentina, Salta is a city of folklore where the Indian and Gaucho cultures meet. Music, singing and dancing are all part of daily life, especially in the peñas,lively restaurants where the public is warmly invited to participate in the shows on stage.
While we’re here, you’ll have a chance to meet representatives of mining companies in the area.
Valle de Uco & Mendoza
From Salta we’ll go down along the Andes to Mendoza, one of the world’s greatest wine regions.
About an hour or so south of the city of Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes, lies the Uco Valley (Valle de Uco), the area getting the most attention internationally these days. Known for its high altitude, this valley is in fact one of the world’s highest wine growing regions, with nearly 200,000 acres planted between 3,000-3,900 feet.
Some say that it’s like the Napa Valley, 30-40 years ago – and this is where we’ll see the most breathtaking natural scenery.
At Los Arbolitos Vineyards, we will indulge-for-a-day in an upscale lifestyle surrounded by vines and unlimited views of the magnificent Andes. We’ll enjoy an authentic vineyard gauchoasado accompanied by fine wines, of course … and your choice of activities … plus a tour of the La Morada de los Andes real estate development.
Attractive opportunities abound in this up and coming wine region. Steve Rosberg will be on hand to explain how you can get into a fully-managed agricultural investment.
Keep in mind that this is only a brief overview of the places we’ll visit and experience on this expedition, a trip we’ve specifically designed to help you understand what these countries are all about.
Regardless of where your interest lies, whether you’re a tourist seeking to discover a new destination, if you’re looking for a retirement destination, or offshore investment – or both – I encourage you to join me for this exciting expedition.
Over the course of our journey, we’ll visit farmlands and forestry projects, vineyards where you can invest or purchase a parcel … even produce wine with your own label with as much or as little involvement as you want.
Let me be your personal guide to the South America I love!
Every time I visit these countries, I return home planning to return, again and again. Simply put… I just love it here.
Join me for an experience that you’ll remember for the rest of your life – the culture and welcoming people, the food and wines, warm weather, incredible scenery – and perhaps it will even lead you to a new lifestyle.
